Federal Privacy Act statement

To comply with federal law, LCCC is required to ask for your Social Security Number (SSN) or Individual Taxpayer Identification Number (ITIN). LCCC will use this information to report scholarships tax credits, administer financial aid programs, verify enrollment, degree and academic transcript records and conduct institutional research.

If you do not submit your SSN/ITIN, you will not be denied admission to LCCC; however, you may be subject to civil penalties imposed by the Internal Revenue Services (IRS Reg 1.6050S-1(e)(4) for more information). Pursuant to the Family Educational Rights and Privacy Act (FERPA – 20 U.S.C. 1232g; 34 CFR Part 99), LCCC will protect your SSN/ITIN from unauthorized use and/or disclosure.

Applicants who do not provide a Social Security Number (SSN) on the Admissions Application may experience the following issues:

1. Students may not be awarded any federal financial aid, which includes loans and grants because providing a SSN is required by the federal government to determine eligibility.
2. Students may not be included in various college, state, federal reports, and other statistical information that affect funding and graduation rates.
3. Students may not be identifiable on National Student Loan Clearinghouse enrollment and degree verification information. If so, employers may not be able to verify that a degree or certificate was awarded.
4. Students may not receive a 1098T for federal tax credit because the federal government requires a SSN or ITIN.
